All urban design changes whether domestic or commercial must acknowledge and respond to the design principles in the Royal Town Planning Institute’s 2017 publication Dementia and Town Planning, which are also endorsed by the Essex Design Guide 2018.
Our Neighbourhood Plan is a formal agreement with residents for the long-term development of our town.
Residents are involved at every step via surveys, consultations and a referendum at the end.
Once adopted, we can use our plan to legally control how we want development to happen in our town.
This is the website for the Saffron Walden Neighbourhood Plan. Under the Localism Act 2011, residents have been given new rights and powers to shape development in their communities via something called a Neighbourhood Plan. For the first time ever we can draw up a legally binding plan for Saffron Walden setting out what development we want to see – and what we don’t. Get involved and help set a roadmap for your community!
