Join our Focus Groups on the Saffron Walden Neighbourhood Plan – Press Release

These meetings have now happened, so if you are interesting in joining the team, instead please visit our Get Involved page.

Neighbourhood Planning allows local communities to have a say in the development in their town or village. The Saffron Walden Neighbourhood Plan team will be hosting a number of focus groups on the main subject areas of the plan. If you have an interest in any of these areas and want to help us create the plan, please join us on one or more of the following dates. The meetings will all be held in the Council Chamber at the Town Hall at 7pm.

  • Sports, Community & Leisure – 12 October 2016
  • Health – 18 October 2016
  • Housing, Planning & Design – 20 October 2016
  • Education – 26 October 2016
  • Green Infrastructure – 1 November 2016
  • Transport & Getting Around – 2 November 2016
  • Business & Local Economy – 16 November 2016
  • Arts & Heritage – Tues, 22 November 2016

Those interested in attending are requested to use the Contact Us form stating which meetings they wish to attend so that numbers attending can be catered for.

About the Walden Plan

Under the Localism Act 2011, residents have been given new rights and powers to shape development in their communities via Neighbourhood Plans. The emerging Walden Plan is the Neighbourhood Plan that is being created by Saffron Walden residents and their Town Council. It is anticipated that the Walden Plan will be ready for local referendum in 2017.

    I think it is time some attention was paid to the disastrous parking on Little Walden Road at the junction with the Victory. Parking on both sides of the road has made an absolute obstacle course there. It is time some yellow lines were painted there and a sensible parking arrangement made.
